This project continues to be a calling from my heart. I have always loved music since I was a young child. I wanted to play guitar. My father said you can play that later but right now your hands are too small. He bought me a small instrument, a ukulele. He showed me how to play some basic chords and then we played music together over so many years. He played mandolin and clarinet. As if to complete a circle., I played my full size guitar for him as his physical death was coming near. Music has been a continuous theme throughout my. life. When I first met Osho my life changed forever. Meditation and music went hand in hand. The music and songs that arose in the community around Osho are for me inspiring, heartfelt and timeless. The calling I felt was to share good quality recordings of some of these precious songs. I wanted the songs to have a life of their own, to continue reverberating around the world to anyone who would also be touched by their simple power of conveying something about meditation, celebration and love. It is in this spirit that I began to gather the songs, often having them recorded again, and some of the songs were never recorded previously. Other songs were recorded but the quality may have been poor and some of the songs referred to earlier names that Osho was known by. Many songs were recorded and produced fresh again by Chinmaya Dunster. He is also playing guitar on all of those recordings. In these recordings Narayani is the lead singer, with her clear and heartfelt voice. She could feel the songs from the inside and that expression comes through the recordings. Together we took our first steps into this project. Soon after, Anandgyan joined us with his deep, heartfelt, resonating male voice. He sometimes is co-leading with Narayani's voice and also singing beautiful harmonies. Their voices are a wonderful blend of sounds. Bikram Singh plays such beautiful bamboo flute ( Indian bansuri) on many of the tracks you will hear as more music is added. Joseph also joined our small group playing keyboads. More about these musicans later as the website expands. Many other songs included in the project come from live recordings by the Cologne Uta Band. With their permission, I selected the songs they had archived from live meditation events. Bhakta worked on these songs with his sound engineering and mastering skills and produced the final high quality masters for all the songs in the project. His work gives a unity of sounds for all the songs which were recorded at different times and places. The Cologne Uta band had many musicians joining in at different times. Some of the main Uta band singers over the years singers are Basera and Abha and Raji. More credits will come for other musicians who play in these wonderful live recordings of the Uta Band. Some songs were recorded by the songwriter. For example, Sudhananda recorded and sings two of his own songs for this project. Some songs were recorded in India and Germany with the the help of Devapria. She coordinated the recording of those songs and so much more. Many more photos and credits will be given as more music is shared on this website All of the songwriters have given their permission to include these songs in this project. Many said something to the effect of " the song just came through me ...it is a mystery how that happens." I am so grateful for all the songwriters, musicians, and the whole team that made this project possible. Anonymous sponsors shared from their love of the project, helping in many ways for the project to reach completion. Here I would like to share my gratitude for the Osho Meditation Resort, Osho Foundation International, Pune, India. For me this is the place that inspired so much creativity, celebration and meditation. These songs reflect that uplifting spirit that spreads through this music. All of the songs were recorded privately in various locations around the world - none were recorded for this project in the Osho Meditation Resort in India. I started the project, with the encouragement of my partner, Sevita. She asked me to find a song she remembered listening to but could only remember a few words. I was able to find the song and she was so happy and touched. She had tears in her eyes just reading the words of the song. It was then that I started the project and many friends joined in to help it all happen. The project took on a life of its own. It was and is, a teamwork, with love and gratefulness. .
